About Me

Hello! My name is Zoe Cottrell, and I am a 16-year-old writer living in Louisville, Kentucky. I've been writing for as long as I can remember. On March 23, 2022, I started my main project, a novel called The Otherfolk. I finished the first draft of The Otherfolk in February of 2024 and published it on March 23rd of 2025.

For me, writing is an escape, my way of expressing myself. The magic of being able to create people, worlds, and plots in my head has always been awe-inspiring to me, and the fact that I can share it with the world is even more amazing. I've poured so much time and work into The Otherfolk, I'm so excited to finally be able to say, "Here, take the world inside my head and see it in yours."

As a young writer trying to figure out how to publish, I encountered so many difficulties just in the beginning. From editing and revising to ISBNs and barcodes, it wasn't an easy journey. Even though there have been hundreds of times I've wanted to give up, I was determined to figure it out, and I want to inspire other young writers through that journey.

My family and friends have revolutionized the process. Their encouragement, guidance, help, and love are what keeps me going as I continue to pursue my dreams. My God has gifted me with a beautiful talent, and He has given me so many wonderful people to encourage me. In turn, I want to encourage other writers my age. So, to all the young authors out there, remember that you are gifted, you are loved by God, and you can do it. Come with me on this adventure, and let's show the world what we can do.
